A refreshed stage for a new phase.
Hello, friend and welcome back.
Today marks the start of a new era for Jerry Lane Photography and my creative work in general. If you haven’t heard, late last year I got diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD. At that time I was told that I was a likely candidate for ADHD stimulant medication but I had to resolve other health matters before moving to that stage. I have since switched to taking stimulant medication and it is having a hugely positive impact on my day to day life, my progress on goals, and my mental health.
You’d be forgiven for thinking “ah Jesus, here he goes again with the shpiel about change, we’ve seen this before”, and I grant you that point if you hold it. I’ve never had ADHD meds before nor a diagnosis or decent understanding of what’s happening in my brain, until now. I have never felt more capable or excited for the future and for my creative work.
All art and writing needs a canvas and this site is the future for my work. It’s the place I’ve spilled countless hours over, tweaking fonts and colours, item spacing, copywriting and more. I’ve given it more time than it deserved and needed. Much more. The idea for the future of this site and indeed my online presence is easy – simplify. I want low friction, ease of use for you, and a single source of truth for me in terms of inventory – this provides it.
What else is changing?
1. I’ll be sharing regularly on the blog, writing like it was 2009 all over again.
2. I have a regular newsletter content plan building and it’ll be released bi-weekly on Sundays.
3. I have regular social post scheduling in the works.
4. I have a growing list of places to photograph.
5. I’ll be adding new images and products to the shop in the coming weeks.
A small change makes a huge difference at times in life. Knowing what I have and more of who I am helps a tremendous amount now to mould a better future. I’m grateful for this knowledge, the support of the medical professionals, and the power it brings about.
