The Future Starts Now. Phase 01:

Hello, friends.

Today marks the beginning of an entirely new chapter for Jerry Lane Photography & indeed for Jerry Lane Creative Media.

First of all, you may have noticed a few key design changes to the overall site layout, including the fact that clicking on the print shop means you’ll end up on a dedicated eCommerce site powered by Square. There you’ll also notice that if you order any of the new Fine Art Prints from the shop, you'll notice an entirely new checkout process.

The reason for this is simple: I now sell standard photo prints & affordable frames in-person at Ballybunion Community Market, and I sell Fine Art prints – both framed with UV protective glass & unframed – online.

Historically, this has been done through a combination of SumUp (for markets & in-person card payments) and Squarespace (for online sales, with payments going to Stripe before hitting my bank). The services never spoke to each other, and tracking stock in one place wasn't reflected over to the other. It was a slow process and took up far too much time given the returns at present. While I have loved my site on Squarespace and have poured many hours into it's design and flow, I needed to move forward with a system that allowed me to operate my print sales & stock management with ease.

As such, I have moved my primary print sales site to Square Online, a website service from Square – the online payments provider etc – who also provide a full Point of Sale (PoS) system which I'll be using at markets going forward. Square also provide a small card reader similar to the one offered by SumUp, which I have implemented for markets going forward. The practical side of this change means that I can track all my stock (both for markets & online sales) and have those sync across my website, my PoS for markets, and have always on quick access to this information. It streamlines my business and would be ready to go with the addition of a terminal, should I opt to have a more permanent physical space down the line. It also means that when market seasons wind down I can add the market products to the online store with a click of a button. Seamless.

I'm excited for this phase of the journey and I hope you find something you love in the print store or indeed at the forthcoming markets. The new framed prints on the store are of the best quality and all produced by Steve at 360-DPI in Wicklow. He’s brilliant at what he does and you’ll have a piece of my work to last a lifetime. The frames feature UV protective glass and are available in three finishes, black, walnut, and maple.

Thank you for your support. As I said in my post previously – we're just getting started. Thanks for coming along on this journey.

– Jerry
