An Evening in Ballylongford.

A Hidden Gem in North Kerry.

July 18, 2020, was a beautiful day. It wasn’t too hot nor too cold, and the sun broke through highlighting the sublime North Kerry landscape. After a long day, I decided to head to Ballylongford to see some spots I hadn’t visited in years. With my camera to hand I headed out and shot some photos and videos along the way, taking in Saleen Pier, Kilcolgan Strand, and of course the beautiful Carrigafoyle Castle & Carrig island.

This is an area steeped in rich history, where power over the Shannon was fought for, and where community spirit & positivity haven’t faded in the face of persistent financial strain. Ballylongford is a a dreamy and magical place, hugging the shores of the longest river in the land. If you haven’t visited, you should.

As the sun crept towards the horizon it bathe the beautiful landscape in golden light. There was no chattering of people to be heard, no bumper to bumper traffic pining to reach a place, just peaceful beauty and nature (with one added tractor hard at work). Sheer dreamy bliss. 🙂
